Animals in the Terminal

Non-service Animals in the Terminal

The Lee County Port Authority has updated its rules and regulations on animals in the terminal at Southwest Florida International Airport, Lee County Ordinance No. 94-09. The revised changes do not apply to trained service animals used by an individual with a disability, as defined by Section 4.03.08(1)(d), Florida Statutes, or any law enforcement animals of a federal, state or local agency in performance of their duties. For all other non-service animals, including emotional support animals, the following items listed here will apply.

An airport terminal is a busy and noisy environment. The Lee County Port Authority has seen a significant increase in animals in the facility that has resulted in congestion, safety and sanitation issues. Due to this activity, it is not a pet friendly location and airport visitors who are picking up friends and family need to leave their pets at home.

Animal Relief Area Map

Animal Relief Areas at RSW are located in the “grassy areas” at the east end of the terminal building on the lower level, adjacent to Door 1. We encourage all pet owners to use the animal relief areas before going through security checkpoints due to the lack of pet relief areas inside the concourses. Disposable bags and trash cans are available for your use. Please keep your pet leashed at all times while on airport property. For service animal needs inside the concourses, please contact your airline for assistance.
